HRT – New Dangers Exposed

8th March 2004, 15:38

Hormone Replacement Therapy – once hailed as the source of the fountain of youth, is beginning to loose credibility – according to research findings – particularly the Health Women’s Institutes’ Release of July 2002.

The Hormone Replacement Therapy – the Oestrogen–Progestogen combination variety, contrary to its claims of preventing heart attacks and strokes, is, in fact, now being shown to increase blood clots with the increase of heart attacks and strokes.

But that’s not all…

For despite decades of Observational Studies to the contrary, there has been an increase in Breast Cancer.

A recent major research project now set alarm bells ringing to the tune of the risks of the Oestrogen only therapy taken by about one in four HRT users, who have had hysterectomy.

This study had to be terminated when the results showed a significantly greater risk of stroke and the possibility of higher risk of developing DEMENTIA.  The study concluded the Drawbacks far outweigh the potential Benefits.

Even so, doctors say it should now be used on a short – time basis to mitigate the symptomic effects of menopause – such as hot flushes, night sweats, fatigue and mood swings.

But there are safe natural alternatives.  Soya products are rich in Isoflavinoids; and soya products form part of the staple diet in Japan.  Which is why, according to research studies, just one in five women experience hot flushes during menopause.

This is, by no means, the end of the HRT saga.  Researches and studies go on…
